1-11-03 CUB SCOUT TRIPT TO BAT CAVE
By Caren Beck

On Saturday, January 11, a group of about 15 cub scouts 4 leaders enjoyed exploring Bat Cave. Since the group was so big, we split up into two smaller groups. Becky, Sean, and Brandon Roberts guided one group and Sullivan and Caren Beck guided the other group. The Beck group explored the Root Cellar first and ended up doing the worm hole squeeze as a grand finale. I'm not sure who had more fun cramming into that small room, the scouts or the leaders!!?! The Roberts' group dug out the original entrance and successfully managed to maneuver the pancake squeeze which led to it!! We took a 30 minute break for lunch and those who had time and wanted returned to the cave for another hour of exploration. We entered through the original entrance and somehow wound up at the worm hole squeeze again. I guess we just can't torture ourselves enough sometimes!!

Thank you to the Scouts and leaders who had great attitudes and who genuinely enjoyed themselves. Thank you also to Santa Fe for allowing us and the scouts this unique cave exploration experience!
