CHRISTINA'S LOVE NEST
Woody Vinzant
One of the fun little caves we went to at the 2003 Cave Cavort was
"Christina's Love nest" (actually, it's Fissure Crack Cave,
aka: Arachnophobia). Saturday morning, Team Vinzant, (little) Steve,
Jim and Pat Smith, Mary Alice Petty, Steve Waller and his friend Rick
went on this little cave excursion. Following directions written on
a crumpled up piece of paper, we went to this cave. At first we weren't
sure this was it. It looked quite small. Matt started in the crawling
entrance, while I climbed down the fissure. It was about a 10 x10
room with a "fo" wall built to one side. The wall was made
of an old box spring for support and had tin and fiberglass sheeting
leaned up against it. Matt and I looked behind the wall and there
was a mattress on the floor and some candles. While I climbed up to
tell the others about the little "love nest" we found, Matt
found a back pack. He and Mary Alice looked at the few clues from
the pack. Christina left her report card in the pack. Mary Alice told
us Christina is a good student, all A's and B's. Every one took turns
climbing down and looking for clues. Jim found a cushion in the main
room; we figured it must be for a "waiting area". Pat found
some beads, no doubt a gift to Christina from a young gentleman caller.
Andy found a pack of "cherry flavored" cigarettes, we deducted
must be for "after the deed is done."
Anyway this cave gave us more laughs than anything else we did this
weekend (we could laugh, because we aren't Christina's parents!)
We had a great time at this year's cavort. We are already talking
about next years!
