CAVE FOUND IN BELLEVIEW, FL
By Bill Walker
Recently, Sean Roberts and I went ridge walking around the Belleview area. Near the end of the day I suggested we check out a cave I've known about for years. From Sean's lack of enthusiasm, I concluded that he thought the cave was going to be some little nerd hole with 5 feet of passage.
When we arrived at the cave and Sean saw the entrance sink, his eyes popped out of his head and all he could say was
"Whoa!" The cave has two beautiful entrance sinks (although they are filled with junk like most Florida depressions.) A bedding plane room with standing passage joins the two sinks. A third entrance skylight drops into the back of the main room.
I asked Sean if he had ever seen this and if it was in the survey - "Hell no it's not in the survey. I don't think anyone knows about this." Sean and I plan to survey the cave very soon.
Check out the photos below, I sense an FSS cleanup.
